GPR Australia - The Eggdome - Unable to Proceed - but Wait! Tasmanian Rescue!!
I sincerely apologise for the lack of updates regarding the first leg of the race in Australia.
I regret to say that the planned leg at The Eggdome is unable to go ahead. I was seriously looking forward to driving these cars as I'm sure they would have been brilliant to drive, however it appears it was not to be.
We were looking to run it this weekend on the 22nd of July, however we have not been able to get numbers to have sufficient drivers of good quality (which is important, as you don't want just anyone driving a proxy car, or else things tend to get damaged or not turn in a good enough performance due to it being in the hands of a less capable driver) and marshals.
My apologies for the delays to all involved, I will organise shipping onto Hobart for the next leg of the racing.
Thanks for all your efforts, Rob; I know you have done your best. Sorry for your own disappointment in not getting to run them.
Being as I'm currently involved in the Down Under Proxy Race, I know there's some great organization happening down their amongst some Track Hosts - have Lenny Broke, or Phil Kalbfell, or Hoffy, been contacted about the potential of finding a new venue while they're on your side of the planet?

You could always run the race solo. I know the GPR race #2 host in Iowa did.

...as well as Alan for the most part too - both of you in a very timely and informative fashion as well
Plus there are those that prefer the single driver hosting of a race...though it does make one's digit of choosing for control quite achey in time...just ask that guy running the Forums Cup...believe Lonesome George is his name.
A replacement round has been sorted out by a couple of the guys on Auslot, so what is happening is the cars will be going to Phil (Kalbfellp) in Hobart first, then to Adelaide to be raced there.
Cars will be sent down to the round in Hobart on Friday (I have the day off work and can send them then), will take perhaps a week to arrive.
I will let you know when the cars arrive and test then ASAP. I will try and organise the race date and post it soon,so that we can try and catch up on the schedule.
That's great news, I have been looking forward to enjoying a couple of Down Under races, and from what I have heard some of you fellas use some strange paints on your tracks?
By the way, who is this Phil Kalbfell, and does he know anything about Slot Cars?
He is a rank amateur as far as proxy races go. Yep he knows nothing about organizing them at all. You all will be lucky to get anything back, in less than 20 pieces.
If you believe that, I have some ocean front property to sell you in Arizona. It includes a lease on the golden gate bridge located down there.
I will use one head to organise the GPR and the other will be organising the DUPR cars. I need to clear these races so that I can get off my bum and get the WPR back on track.
Once you have the track details nailed down, will you let me know so I can update the scoring spreadsheet? Remember that the average lap distance in feet is the imprtant detail as the scoring is all done on distance covered, not on laps completed.
Hi Guys
Hoffy 73 and Myself will be running the replacement round here in Adelaide South Australia.
We're located in the jaggy bit about 1 third of the way across the bottom of the map if your wondering where we are in Oz.
The best street circuit race in the world is run here but don't tell the others that
In case you are wondering who we are we are co-ordinating this years Down Under Proxy series.
Dennis, what info do you need to know about the track?
When we're ready to go we will start a new thread for GPR Australia- Adelaide
Thanks for letting us play with your cars
Cheers Alan
Dennis, what info do you need to know about the track?
Alan,
* Track Name
* Surface type (painted wood, bare Scalex Sport, etc)
* Conductors (Tape/braid/steel. etc)
* Average lap length in feet and decimals of feet (or give it to me in meters and I will convert it)
* Number of lanes
* Power supply type (Ajustable/Fixed) Voltage being run and amperage available
* Timing Hardware (Dead strip/Photocells/reed switches, etc)
* Timing software (TrakMate/Laptimer 2000/DS, etc)
* Controllers used
Some photos would also be nice!
Since the cars are already in Australia (you do still consider Tasmania as part of Australia, right? ) the info on track surface and power is more for completeness than useful data for the entrants, but the lap length is real important for the results.
