KSC 2nd Annual 1:43 Scratch Build Proxy 2011
Planned improvements:
- Plastic Track (1/32 Scale)
- Two Categories of cars
- Special award for sponsorship support. (See Sponsorship near the bottom)
- Sponsorship Deadline, prize list and award order to be announced 6 weeks prior to race date.
NOTE: Changes and or additions to the rules are highlighted
The second event will be for scratch built
car (body and chassis) and
is scheduled for Jan 15th & 16th 2011.
Emphasis is placed on the chassis however
builders are required to complete a body this year as well.
Up to 2 entries per participant.
No more than two cars regardless of category.
CATEGORY #1 TRADITIONAL SLOT CAR
CHASSIS:
To be considered scratch built, a chassis must have been constructed by the builder without the use of any commercial parts except
1. (1) Motor
2. Gears
3. Axles / Bushings
4. Wheels / Tires
5. Guide / Braids / Wires
Permitted:
Building from 'plans'.
Machine cut chassis.
Any type of guide, but only one.
Not permitted:
Commercially available chassis.
Traction Magnets.
Tire goop or solvent.
General building guide line:
In respect to wheels and tires, allowed commercial
parts used must be 1:43 scale or modified to 1:43 scale.
All four wheels must touch the track and roll.
No lubricants, oil or otherwise outside the car. This includes
lubricants applied to the guide.
BODY:
Vacuum form, resin cast, styrene, plastic or almost any material
(baring anything radio active) is allowed.
No paper bodies please.
The body must resemble a car and be of 1:43 scale.
Open wheel bodies are fine.
CATEGORY #2 NON TRADITIONAL SLOT CAR
Same rules as Cat #1 however any number of motors is allowed.
TWO CATEGORIES OF COMPETITION:
#1 The Race:
Hosted by Barfly Racing at KSC Speedway - 12 volts. Parma Eco 35 ohm controllers.
On two lanes;
10 lap practice immediately followed by a 25 lap time trial on each lane.
5 slowest lap times will be eliminated from each heat and an average taken of the top 40 lap times.
Lowest average time wins.
#2 Voting Poll
Prior to the race, a thread will be started on
HRW, SCXWW and SCI where participants will be asked to post pictures and descriptions of their builds.
The more forums you use the more votes you can get.
Also prior to the race a poll will be conducted on all three forums for both builders and spectators participation.
In the polls voters will be asked to cast their vote on building techniques, originality and the cars overall appearance. Votes will be tallied up
from all three forums for one total score for each entry.
To avoid prolonged outcomes
ties in the voting polls will be resolved by the KSC Speedway track manager
SPONSORSHIP SUPPORT CONTEST:
Entrants may provide KSC Speedway with proof of purchase from official race
sponsors to earn support credits. Credits will be issued based on the number of $ spent
with additional credits for the number of sponsors supported.
Purchases do not have to be race related.
To qualify for the Sponsorship Support contest builders are asked to provide KSC with
proof of purchase such as a receipt or purchase order. All proof of purchase dated
between 3/1/2010 and 1/1/2011 will qualify. Purchases do not have to be race related,
however single item purchases over $40 do not qualify.
The entrant with the most credits at race date will receive:
1. A New SCX Compact Nascar Tri Oval Super Speedway Set curtsy of KSC.
