Default Race #5 - 24 Drivers Battle It Out

Czerwony Sr. & Ioi Grab The “Bassett Bounty”

While rookie cardwell makes it a natural hat trick in “group” B!

Victor Czerwony and Gary Ioi answered the bell last night, ending the domination of Johnny “Slots” by taking victory in round #5 of the 2012 Maxport II Winter Championship. The two veterans grabbed the $10 Million Dollar Mini Grid “Bounty” offered, and will discuss an amicable split of the reward upon its presentation at the end of season 2088 wrap-up banquet.

Not to be overlooked was the third win in succession for Greg Cardwell in “Group B”, who has quickly come to grips with slot car racing in his rookie season. A petition for his immediate promotion to the “Big Boy” class is gaining momentum… All in all another classic night of Crash N’ Burn racing, with a packed house of 24 drivers competing. Here is your race summary:

Non-Magnet Silhouette GT

1/ Vic Czerwony
2/ Gary Ioi
3/ Peter Czerwony
4/ Greg Cardwell
5/ Rob Dickinson

Highlights: Greg Cardwell makes it all the way to the Final in his rookie season; Rob Dickinson’s dress code and performance; this Championship just got very, very interesting…
Lowlights: Kroll and 'TM'… What’s up?; The return of “Potty Mouth” Mitropolous

Group B Silhouette GT

1/ Greg Cardwell
2/ Rob Taylor
3/ Dan Boyd
4/ George Maxwell
5/ Martin Myers

Highlights: Cardwell’s amazing 3-in-a-row natural hat trick; the return to form of “Cupcake” RobTaylor, previously reported as missing in action, making this a two horse battle for the title; Dan Boyd’s second successive podium… one to watch; the “Big G” and his constant breakout’s!
Lowlights: Someone forgot to tell Martin Myers it was a Crash N’ Burn, 5th place taking him out of the Championship battle; the “Big G” and his constant breakout’s!

Magnet Prototype

1/ Gary Ioi
2/ John Bassett
3/ Kevin Kroll
4/ 'TM'
5/ Ed Webber

Highlights: The Big ‘4’ come through, making this Championship wide open for any of them to grab with 2 races remaining; Brant Snow’s strong showing with his red Lola; the splendid ‘driver introductions’ by Rob Taylor and his subsequent point in the race for adults; and someone must of told Martin Myer’s as he makes it into the points!
Lowlights: Peter Mitropolous… 9 laps in 4 heats? And takes his kind, quiet and gentle ‘Uncle’ Rob out of the Semi-Final with a body slam…; John Flinn’s yell for help from above (not upstairs above, but way, way above). It didn’t help…

So that’s your update. We reconvene in just two short weeks from now on Wednesday, May 2nd, where the featured classes will be Non-Magnet GT and IROC . Until then happy slotting…

Bernie and Max
