Some of you might remember the Mooneyes semi that late SCI member Da Vols created back in around 2006. I ended up with the truck and have raced it occasionally whenever I hit the road to visit a new track. Well, even though the truck was very creative in it's design, it really wasn't built to survive the test of time.
Bruce used a Pro-Track 1/24 chassis that was cut about 1/3 of the way from the front, and then used styrene rod to fill the gap. The body was hot glued onto the two aluminum rods that are parallel to the axles:
Unfortunately, as the truck has spent time on the track and sitting in my display case, the chassis has slowly collapsed at the point the styrene rods were used:
So I've started work on rebuilding this bit of slot car history. The first step is going to be trying to remove the styrene and replacing it with some brass tubing soldered in place.
More updates to follow as I make progress.
