Default Installing Lights in 1/24 BRM ?

I like the scale aspects of slot racing. That is why I gravitate to cars that attempt to be scale models. Slot.it, Avant , MRRC and the Scalys that are "authentic" ... are what interest me in the hobby.

So when I saw the BRM stuff, I was definitely attracted, as they appear to be detailed scale attempts. Especially of one of my favorite prototypes of all time, the 962 !

So with much consternation (pricing is a problem here !) ...I bit !

I have no intention of "racing" my cars, or being "fast fast fast" (the door stop wing cars prevail here, and I have no interest in them now... 1967 ? well, I used to run 'em)

I want to make beauty queens of these cars , and do hot "concours" laps. Just run & look purty !

SO it occurred to me ... That headlights would be cool in this app...

BUT , will a lite kit like the Slot.it work in these larger cars ???

Anyone try this ?

Is there a better light kit for 1/24 ??

Slot.It or even better a DS kit will work but.
Those LEDs are very small.

Way to put lights in a BRM is to get two or four 5mm white LEDs for the headlights and use 3mm red LEDs for taillights.

Buy LEDs in bulk and they're cheap enough to burn a few out.
I use watch batteries to power the lights.

Take care running the wires. On the Porsches they'll run over top of the front wheels. Not much room there.

I love lights on the cars i think they look Cool when lights are on. I would think there's a lot of room in a 1/24 car, we are adding them to just about every type of 1/32 car. here's a thread that shows several examples :http://www.slotcarillustrated.com/po...ad.php?t=58918

I've looked at the slot it light kits, and they would make it simple but they are a bit too pricey for me. LED's can be bought and lights added to a car for about $1 to $2.

The only problem when I put lights on my BRM was running the wires from the front headlights as the interior screws to the floor and fits very tight even up against the body so you have to be very creative and run the wires cleanly to avoid anything binding on them when you put the body back on the chassis. I ground a small channel to run the wires and glued the wires securely to the shell and then put plugs on the end of the wires so I could unplug the light wires when I had to remove the body. The rear lights can be drilled through the rear of the chassis as there is a lip and wired directly to the lightboard so they never have to be removed when the body comes off. Mine were D132 chipped originally but when I sold them I used a carrera analog light board which was small enough to mount on the chassis beside the motor. They look great lighted but considering they are 1/24 have alot less room inside with the way the interior is made than a 1/32 and I have lighted alot of cars but the BRM was more of a challenge. HTH
