With all the bodies Tomy made, it would make sense to re-release them in other paint schemes. No mold tooling costs, just paint costs with the standard injected molding cost.

AFX are soon to do that with a couple of Group C cars.

Mind you, these will still be proper, 'real' colour schemes, and I prefer it that way. The alternatives are the cynical and often execrable fictitious schemes.

The recent set of 8 BSRT 'F1' cars for the SG+ spring to mind.

For sale in the E.U.

Anyone, large or small, who can make an accurate model of a Ferrari can, for sale in the E.U., manufacture that model of that Ferrari.

There are some very specific things about or on that Ferrari that may no be reproduced.....the prancing horse is not one of those things but the 'Ferrari' script is.

Not to say Carrera wouldn't try to stop them but the E.U. courts have already ruled on this.....Cartronic vs Opel and Cartronic won....three times.

What that person/corporation has to decide is do they ever want to be welcome at a Ferrari function again?

So if the paint schemes are not to your satisfaction...re-paint them yourselves...problem solved....
better yet they should offer them in "White" or "Clear" like they did with the GT-40's...make your own music.....and race it...

If everybody came to a race with the same liveries on their cars....that would be a problem...

Check Racemasters site, they do make them in white body only. Not sure if they are sold by stores though.

As for licensing, its not only the motor trade/toys that are a mess with this. It covers almost everything manufactured on the planet. Try making your own "Coke" and selling it! Copyright/Licensing is a mind field with my game too - Photography. Take a photo, sell it. The person/Company do what they like with it, copy it etc. Despite having terms and conditions attached to the image and providing those terms and conditions prior to a shoot, some people just don't get that they do not automatically "own" the image. Keeps Lawyers in a job!

Read my post again....I'm speaking in terms of the La Mans stuff that you guys seem to be craving for...find somebody to make them in white or clear then paint your own schemes....
