Default ARC PRO shown across pond

YES its digital and analog wireless.
Some lament lack of special pit lane track.
But believe what it really needs is ability to expand to 4 lanes analog.
Now that would have covered all the bases of slot and won the ball game.
GLAD maybe ?

Default Good job Scalextric!

I really enjoyed using ARC Pro today at the UK Slot Car Festival. The controllers are superb and although only the basic features of the app were enabled, I've used the analogue features of ARC One and Air enough to know that it's going to be a quality product for home use.

This is the ARC Pro Platinum GT set - essentially the old Platinum set + more track + wireless controllers + pit lane + the full ARC PRO app (=SSDC + a little more) + can be used as an analogue ARC Air system. Okay, there's two cars and two throttles less in the box. And it doesn't have the in-out sensors of a Pit Lane Pro. But not bad for a box of plug-and-play kit that will be available from hobby stores.

Here's the layout in action...

Given the corporate 'issues' that Hornby has been going through, I think they've done a pretty good job with ARC Pro - well worth the wait

That's easy. The cars will drive and change lanes. Without something to display the lap counts and times, you get nothing else.

What do you want/expect it to do without any kind of display? It will be in every way like the APB in that regard, except with wireless controllers, and a convenient switch to go to analog mode and back.

Curious about how SAP will handle IDing toys.
Push a button like pb4 or use a menu like apb .
Of course spare pb4 can handle that and digital lap counter will work for that function.

Also curious if controllers can change id and be corrected without tablet.
Guess we will find out later.

I assume it will be like ARC Air. Press a button to pair the car and/or controller to the ID.
I'm sure the digital lap counter accessory will still work with this system. It's not a new system, just a new connection for the controllers and display, really.
I'm also confident that the controllers will be able to "change ID" as you say, without the tablet, again, using the buttons like the ARC Air.

I don't know what that means.

Hopefully we'll have firm and confirmed answers to your questions soon. If not, they can be answered when the base/set hits the shelves. I'll be getting the base to test with as soon as it's available.

Default A John Steinbeck quote, I believe...

I think what gorp is saying is that he doesn't believe any of it is going to happen or is going to work... He had 0% trust in Scalextric delivering on the features promised.

I dunno if gorp has tried ARC One or ARC Air? All three ARC systems share the same app, so the core of the app for ARC Pro is already there, developed and tweaked. All three ARC systems also share the same basic hardware infrastructure, so ditto for that. The current pre-release ARC Pro powerbase certainly held up well for two full-on days of racing at the Slot Car Festival. As did the wireless controllers, which are almost identical to the tried and tested throttles in the original ARC Air release. Indeed the new Pro-compatible throttles will also be used for ARC Air after October.

Opinions and questions are fine. Yes, ARC Pro has been some time coming. However, the facts seem to suggest that Scalextric have a pretty wonderful product that looks ready to hit the shelves in time for Christmas 2017. I am sure that between now and then, we will see a detailed ARC Pro page in the ARC section of the Scalextric website, videos of what it does and how it does it, plus pre-release reviews by the likes of MrFlippant
