Semi Final Round

Semi #1

The first semi featured Ryan Hendrickson, Kevin Hendrickson, Van Duzer and Lux. Kevin stunned his brother by jumping out to the early lead while Lux and Van Duzer battled over 3rd. Kevin nearly put Ryan a lap down in the second segment but then stumbled, allowing Ryan to climb back into contention. Meanwhile, Van Duzer took over possession of 3rd in the 2nd segment. Ryan took the lead in the third segment with some smooth driving. Both drivers put on a good show and finished on the same lap, with Ryan crossing for 73 as time ran out. Van Duzer and Lux followed in 3rd and 4th respectively. Lux was eliminated but Van Duzer was still in with a chance at the final pending the outcome of Semi #2...

6th Annual Freezin’ 250 Final

Ryan Hendrickson, Kevin Henrickson, Weber and Webster were the finalists. The Freezin’ 250 had never had a repeat winner and Ryan was aiming to break that record. The other three were all looking for their first Super Stock T-Jet Major win. The race would be comprised of 11 minute segments...

Ryan took the lead at the start but was quickly passed by Weber and then Kevin. By lap three Kevin had taken over the lead and quickly began to pull away…Until he fell out and Weber grabbed the top spot back. Before long, however, Kevin was reeling him in and took the lead again. From there he pulled away once more. Five minutes in Kevin passed Weber again to build his lead to one lap. While Weber and Ryan battled for second, Kevin continued to pull away. He built a three lap lead and seemed on the verge of putting the race away when the car began to oil. The pit stop cost him two laps, but he kept the lead. At the end of one segment Kevin lead Weber by one lap, with Ryan just behind Weber. Webster was five laps behind. In the second segment Kevin struggled early but then went to build his lead again, while Ryan took control of second place. At the end of two segments Kevin lead his brother by two laps, 134-132. Weber was now four laps down and Webster was really struggling 13 laps off the pace. With Kevin now heading into the two gutter lanes the race was wide open. Kevin struggled to get his rhythm once again while Ryan continued to push hard. Kevin’s car was faster, but Ryan was driving a great race and hanging on. He took advantage of some of Kevin’s mistakes and pulled to within one lap when Kevin was forced to pit for oil once more. Now both were on the same lap and the battle was truly on. Both brothers were now in gutter lanes for the final segment. Kevin had ¾ of a lap lead but his car was now slowing slightly and Ryan began to reel him in. Kevin was feeling the pressure and another mistake brought Ryan right alongside. Ryan began to pull away slightly before he pitted to clean his tires and handed the lead back to Kevin. Not only did Ryan clean his tires, but he also broke the back section of his body off in the process. At the same time Kevin was pushing hard – and falling out. He gave the lead back to Ryan with a little under four minutes remaining and dropped nearly a lap behind. Ryan, however, was now slowing as the back half of his car’s body was unsupported and dragging. Kevin began to reel him in again but time was not on his side. Ryan held on by less than half a lap to become the first repeat winner in the great history of the Freezin’ 250. Ryan’s run broke the 250 lap elapsed time record set by his father, Dave, at the 2006 Turkey 250 by five seconds.
