Default CPR 2008 Round 3: Québec, Québec

The 2008 Canadian Proxy Race is now moving to its most eastern location, to the magnificent city of Québec, Québec; where accentued letters and poutine are part of the show, wherever you go.

Carnaval, Château Frontenac, Festival d'été, Chutes Montmorency, Vieux-Québec, Plaines d'Abraham, Île d'Orléans and Canyon Ste-Anne are all great events to participate in and great places to see. But the 48 drivers who take part in the great Canadian Proxy Race won't have time to explore the city and its marvelous surroundings. They will be too busy trying to tame the twists and turns of the very technical Circuit du Grand Rocher II.

I guess they will also be busy trying to learn some French, if they want to be able to read the road signs on their way to the track.

Speaking of language, the Circuit du Grand Rocher II has been hiring some bilingual personal in the last few weeks in preparation for this great event, and also for another international race meeting taking place at the same venue next September.

But we're asking for some understanding as our communications officer is not as fluent in English as he would like. There's also concern around the track about the way the french humor will translate into the language of the ROC (Rest Of Canada).

Anyway, the important thing is the racing that is scheduled to take place on March 8th, after a qualifying run somewhere between now and then. I will be doing some driving and Georges, Didier, Daniel, Benoit, Steve, Claude and Sébastien will join me at the track.

Bonne chance à tous!

Christian

OK, if my English is half as bad as this quasi-French I just read, I'm letting someone else do the reporting...

Thanks for trying Wet. You have a month ahead of you to improve your French. Go read the cereal box and the milk carton.

Still waiting for the cars to arrive.

Meanwhile, I'm in the process of replacing most of the copper tape around my track (after "scraping" the magnetic paint on each side of the slot). This way, I'm sure it won't come off during the heat of the battle.

As soon as I have the cars in hand, I will let you know.

The CPR 2008 cars almost didn't make it to the Circuit du Grand Rocher II this week. Arriving home after work today, I didn't see any package nor an attempted delivery notice from the post office at the door. That didn't sound right, as the cars left Ontario Monday morning by XPressPost.

Fortunately, someone had left a message on my answering machine telling me that they got MY delivery notice at THEIR address. The postal worker had tried to leave the parcel at the wrong address (1541 de Tunis instead of 1541 de Berri). I immediately went to this house to get the notice. Ouf!

The package will be available at the postal outlet tomorrow and I will be able to pick it up there after work.

The race will take place on March 8th, as promised.

Have a good weekend!

I don't speak French but I think I know what you're saying. It's either something uncomplementary about the postal service or someone's ovaries are having an anxiety attack.

Is there something about your last visit to hospital that you're not telling us about Paul?

Which is right up there with my favorite:

"Voici l'Anglais avec sa sang froid habituelle" - translated as:

"Here comes the Englishman with his usual bloody cold"

I remember that word "hein". It was said to be translated "huh", although it could also mean "eh", or in some parts, "hanh."
