The Chicago NINCO Regional was put on by the Great Lakes Slot Car Club at Al's Hobby Shop. The turn out was a little light, a lot of things came up to cause this. But we had 13 racers ready to race. Thanks to NINCO for the awards, and Cindy at Al's for the donuts. The track was in great shape and the shelves were full. The racing was close and I belive everyone had a good time. The winner was Neal Isler, second Frank Stubitsch, third Rich Drejcek, and Ken Isler was fourth. Lastly thanks to all the racers.
Way to go Neal, Frank and Rich. Ken, you know you done good, but hey - this race is about some luck, too!
Neal, thanks for the pictures and the post. We could use some more info about your racers...details man! We wanna know how those non-moslers did. What kind of track and all the secrets of setting up are interesting to all of us.
I ran the double-cheeseburger Megane car last night and it rocked! Very light and fast on the slick Carrera track.
The top four cars were Moslers, the best slot car ever. It was nice to see many different types of cars out there though, they all ran well. The track is Scalextric on a 20 by 3 foot table, four lanes. Nobody will let there tuning secrets out, but NINCOS run great out of the box. We don't travel much.
Neal,
That's a good thing that you guys are running on Scaley track. I ran a Catalunya replica on Scalextric track last year for my first no-mag race. Since then, I have raced with a no-mag group quite bit on that Scaley and on a technical Carrera road course.
Just had my first race on Ninco track at the Philly regionals and it was quite a change, luckily, the guys helped me all the way. The travelling feature was a very rewarding experience. The 1/32 crowd is a good crowd to enjoy this hobby. A whole new dimension to the hobby just waiting for everyone. Gotta admit it's a bit nutty, but the tinkdering and learning from others is great fun and interesting at this point.
I think that setting up the Ninco cars for this is a challenge. The mesh has to be fine tuned, the axle collar needs set just right, and sometimes the gears, wheels and axles are not perfect. Oh, and then there is that driving thing and not crashing thing. The spec's in this class keep things favoring the experienced drivers, to be sure!
We're gonna race them in Cincy tomorrow. C'mon over and join in this one when you get a chance. The Mosler is good, and the Megane just might be the ticket. We'll see....

Thanks for the info Neal. Once again a car with the stock plastic rims wins.
Goes to show that you don't need to spend a ton of money to be competitive.
Hi Neil, Man, I wish you could make it down here. Its going to be a good time. You know you have a place to stay if you could make it.Me and Maria still laugh about the gum pack trick you and RD pulled on her at the 97 NATS in Butler PA.I have never seen as many cars stop on a track without the power being cut off, when she screamed.Man, I miss racing with you guys as there was never a dull moment with you,RD and GuGu in the same building.Tell RD that I said the only reason he won't race these is that there is not enough glue. LoL KC
It was a blast back then. I thought it was a small explosive device, that almost started her on fire. I also remember when you drilled right through RD'S arm trying to balance it. It was nice when you let her out of the room. You know me and RD were there more for the comradery than the racing, hobbyist you know. Do you race 1/32 stuff?
