Since an axle stopper is said to be included with the Megane, I'm presuming it will be an anglewinder, unlike the inline Ninco 1 Megane, correct?

Thanks.

Ok what is this removable motor mount chassis on the lightening murcielago and Ford GT? a whole new chassis? No pics so no info other than the blurb that was written.

You can find some pictures of those chassis in the Nuremberg Toyfair gallery here.

Of the five "Lightning" cars, only the Porsche 997 (an older car) has the transparent Lexan chassis. I don't know what's under the Nemesis, but the other three have the new motor pod chassis. Is the motor pod chassis to be the standard for new model "Lightning cars", moving away from the transparent Lexan? Is the motor pod chassis plastic?

That is correct. The Lightning Megane will come with an angle winder motor pod and chassis along with an interior.

Best regards,
Brian

Gentlemen,

The 50551 Megane Atag "Lightning" is an anglewinder and is unlike the NINCO 1 Meganes.
The new Motor Mount chassis' have removable pods and like all other NINCO chassis are different for each model. The pod is designed to insulate the inertia and weight of the motor from the chassis and links the motor to the rear drivetrain.

This looks to be the case since according to the 2010 catalog, the only options available for the new Audi R8 will be the standard chassis and the motor mount chassis. The motor pod chassis appears to be made out of the same material as the standard chassis.

Best regards,
Brian

Hi all I am a big Ninco fan but they do required a great deal of work and parts to make them a good club racer.

What disappoints mem is the fact that you can not get a replacement chassis hear in Oz for love or money.

If they move to removable pods this would be a fantastic development. Looking at the Megane chassis above it looks like the rear bearing holders are quite narrow (correct me if this is not correct).

I am not a fan of the lexan chassis they are hard to straighten if twisted.

I am also concerned that NINCO seam to be pursuing the RC market at the expence of slot cars, I hope thaey do not drop the ball as some of the classes that we run at our club are at risk due to lack of replacement chassis, wings etc.

Regards

Ray

I am not a big fan of the lexan chassis either. I think they are more brittle than the standard black chassis. If you try to "tune" it with different motors(read "better") and running gear, you risk cracking it. The old saying "
If you "mess" with it too much, you'll "mess" it up. When a review was done on the Mosler lightning it was noted that the lexan chassis was no lighter than the standard black chassis

Well, lexan was used not to make it lighter, just to make it more rigid. But it's definitely too brittle.

It's a bummer, because one of my favorite cars is currently sidelined due to the brittle lexan chassis. It broke by getting the car fairly sideways (maybe 20-25 degrees off center) on a grippy track. When the car got traction again at full throttle with its powerful NC-10, the tires grabbed and the car hopped briefly -- and that was all she wrote for that chassis. This is the black Chefo Sport Ferrari. Gorgeous car, and a fantastic driving car, but now it sits.

As I posted in another thread, Slot cars are still the core business at Ninco.

The new chassis will, AFAIK, have one kind of plastic for the chassis and another for the motor mount. That is easy to see in the photos.

The reason for the lexan chassis is to have a more rigid chassis, because that improves traction. It is not lighter.

All Ninco cars, except Ninco 1, have readily available spare chassis, many both black and lexan, just ask your local dealer to order them.

BTW, the AW chassis in the new Megane will fit all existing Ninco 1 Megane bodies.

And the motor mount chassis for the Megane, Ford GT, Murcielago, Audi is a completely new chassis.

Will the pod be adjustable as far as float and offset like slot.it pods?

Thanks, Fred
