The CanAm organizers are big on stability as far as the rules and eligibility list goes. The Fly GT40 is on the homologation list and always has been since the CanAm CPR was started. There are no plans to remove it.
I think that Mac brought the Fly Ford GT40 Mk I up for the same reason I brought it up some time ago: even though it has been confirmed as being accepted, the Fly Mk. I did not appear in the 2010 list of approved cars and it still does not appear in the list of eligible cars for 2011 in the 2011 rules thread. The Fly Mk II is there, but Fly is absent in the Mk 1 column.
I used a Fly GT40 Mk I last year, even though it wasn't on the list (that was just a oversight). So did several others. The Fly Mk 1 has wide rear-tire flares, is light, and is an excellent choice.
I listed a Ford GT Mk IV as my entry for 2011 but I think I may build a re-chassi'd Porsche 910. We'll see.
Way to go, Doc. We can trade paint running around some of these great tracks. I just wish I could watch the races in person. I didn't hit the lottery so I guess I will have to wait for the videos.
The summer holiday finally gives me time to get back into the hobby again after being caught up with work and traveling for the past 5-6 months. But I'm sticking to one entry this year and the Powerslot Opel GT looks exiting. The Opel GT was Europe's "mini Corvette" in the 70's and it has some racing legacy too: http://www.opelgtworld.de/site04.htm
