scx Ferrari 550 Maranello tune up

Hi Guys just taken delivery of my nice new Ferrari 550 Maranello. Although it is very nice and very smooth i want it to be a bit more competitive. Track is plastic scalextric about 120ft long with one main straight then a series of s bends linked by short straights, at the moment i am using it with a magnet but would like to get rid of the magnet and tune it up so it is a little more competitive does anyone have any suggestions on some mild tuning.

They are nice handling cars in my estimation. First thing I would try is some better tires in whatever brand works best for your track. If your looking for more speed then try upgrading to a SCX Pro Speed motor along with a change in gearing. However, a gearing change may make a complete rear axle/wheel swap necessary.
