As for us guys in the East "Greater Toronto SlotCar Racing Club" or 'GT-SRC" for short, we will continue to run the same classes as last year. This consisted of both Scaley & SCX DTM cars, and Slot.it cars with Stock 25k motors.
After speaking with 4 of our guys so far, in which we ALL race at raceworld, they don't care to run 30k motors. I also favour this decision.
As for the rest of the guys, they will have their say on this thread in due course. Depending on the acceptance of the new rules which include changing gearing, we will act accordingly. I do have concerns on allowing magnesiem wheels.
In the last 3 years in Toronto we have seen a positive move towards building a better enviroment to race in and have taken strides to keep in touch with others in our own areas. Let's keep this an ongoing procedure.
Even though most of us have enough parts or cars to modify the crap out of them, we still need to have some consideration for the new guys that come to raceworld. Some of you in this post where those same guys, 2 years ago.
Maybe a tuner class and a class with a few restrictions will satify all. Nothing is set in stone at the moment so leave it alone.
Chris: Finalize the rules, and we will go from there. When we are all together we will talk.
BTW:
Serge, that's quite a second post here on SCI.
Vanski: that's quite a 2 millionth post here on SCI.
Is it written in stone that this series will run on Sundays? I would love to try it, but Sundays are out, due to football coaching. Just wondering out loud. It would be very interesting having representation from all of the Toronto area clubs in this LMP series of black Nissans.

One thing is for sure, what ever the rules are I will be there every week to race!
My biggest issue with the motors being capped was that this meant that my BOX STOCK(motor, gears, wheels, guide, etc.) Toyota GT1 is now not legal. This is the same car I ran last year which even with it's 'illegal' motor was beat on a few occasions by Serges box stock Slot-it.... and that was on a 135' track with huge straights.
How about baby steps...instead of having a modified class, how about a box stock LMP(same as last year) with the ability to change tires and add some lead to get them to handle?
Just tring to find a middle ground that everyone will enjoy.... when it comes down to it, the more the merrier as far as i am concerned.
Some of you have mentioned that Sunday is no good for competing in a race series at Raceworld's new location. I've started a poll here as I'm curious to know what the best night is for guys to race. While I'd participate in a Sunday series, I'd also dig racing some nights during the week.
By the way guys, I would like to thank Van and Brad for attending our LMP race. You guys did a great job and probably would have beat the crap out of that old guy ferrari whatever...I checked the lap times and results and you guys were on course for a 2nd place to that amazingly fabulous first place team of myself and John. Gawd we were awesome!!!!
I also checked the times per lap to quelch the Mosler debate and all cars were within .300 seconds as far as best lap times go.
I really hope some of us from SRO can participate in this series as it sounds fun. Hopefully Monday nights (I will miss Monday Night Football) ....
Thank you thankyou very much...Im here all week..thank you : first:
In case anybody didn't see this in the other post I thought I would post it here as well.

Additionaly, we will be putting together a few "big" races both 1/32 and 1/24, with some potential sponsorship....races which would attract racers from a far wider area, these will likely be Friday/Sunday, with the biggest races possibly spanning an entire weekend.
Details will be coming, and we will provide plenty of time in advance in order that you will be able to prepare.

So am I to assume once the rules have been set we will be racing on Sunday's at 4pm?
I happened to be strolling through the paddock and overhead the exchange on running specs. As you boys get to sorting it out, I should mention that the new Raceworld digs are encouraging a few of us hard core 1/24 scale racers to come out and trade paint with the 1/32 RTR group. I would encourage you to work to a 'common' spec that has a broad base of national or even better international support, not to get too anal in the fine print, take a zero tolerance policy on race tech, and most of all to 'stick it' for at least a full season.
We are now working to do the same with the 'hard body' or 1/24 'Scale Racing' regulations by bringing them closer to the proven and refined DSC/IMCA/TSR specs. Such an approach, for both scales, will better facilitate the potential for racers to compete internationally, to garner respect internationally (irrespective of what city, town or basement you belong to) and most importantly it results in 'regs' that have been tried, tested, and improved upon by thousands of racers rather than just a couple of dozen or worst yet, an influential few. This is definately one of the reasons that at the 1/24 level the DSC is the largest, best organized, longest running, best attended and financially sound slot racing organization in the world.
On a final note, the 1/32 regs must find a common 'motor' or at the very least a common motor 'rpm' spec or its doomed. And I have to agree this time with Mad 'Max' Walker, anything beyond 25K should be wasted. Hey boys, if a 25,000 rpm Fox motor can drive a 200g 1/24 scale car in international competition, and I haven't heard anyone in the 1/24 paddock looking for more juice, it's gotta be enough for the 1/32 scale at 100g or less. Which brings up the issue of a weight minimum that may also need to get on the table. Hope this helps your discussions. Looking forward to meeting a few more of you guys on the grid this season if it gets sorted out. All the best.
Good comments and ideas, all in which i am favour of. If we can adhere to a policy which incorporates standard rules and a general commitment from the guys to attend, then this will be our best year yet. At some point we will all need to get together and hash out some ideas/proposals on where we want to go with the hobby.
I read your comments within the "Model Car Racing" magazine and the somewhat weak response from the Editor. Although my focus is 1/32 scale, i have a 1/24 car "stock" in which i may give it a test drive!
As far as I am aware there really aren’t globally recognized rules for 1/32 plastic chassis slot car racing...is there?
I know when I raced 1/24 scale, different races would abide to different rules, but they were at the least nationally recognized. Two or three organizations if I remember correctly.
But I definitely agree on your point of setting rules, sticking to them and lets go racing!
If there's no common 1/32 plasticar regulation spec, then what's to stop the rules for Raceworld to become that spec? Sounds like a great opportunity. Let's race already!
